Red ROck Strings Biography

Formed at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professor Karen Ritcher and Juilliard professor Darett Atkins, The Red Rock String Quartet blends top-tier classical training with an enthusiasm for multi-genre and contemporary music. Our musicians have worked with many of today’s most respected classical artists, including the Cavani String Quartet, Yo-Yo Ma, the Ying Quartet, the Jasper Quartet, and the famed Takacas Quartet, but Red Rock String’s artistry extends beyond classical music, performing alongside Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Rod Stewart, Kygo, Tina Guo, Death Cab, John Father Misty, Elephant Revival, Thee Phantom & Illharmonic Hip-Hop Orchestra, John Tesh, Guns and Roses, Josh Groban, Evanescence, Mannheim Steamroller, Sarah Brighten, Ben Folds, Natalie Merchant, Béla Fleck, and many more of today's recognized bands — our musicians have, on numerous occasions, performed cross-over style at their home base, Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheater.
Additionally, Red Rock String members have worked extensively as studio musicians preparing recordings for CD release, movie soundtracks, and several commercials, including for Pepsi and for the United States Air force. The musicians of Red Rock Strings have a vivid and energetic approach to music, and in 2015 this energy won the ensemble an opportunity to perform for President Obama at the White House! Our musicians are not all from Colorado, but they got here as fast as they could — all representing music in local symphonies and enjoying the beautiful outdoors on their off days!
